Found Footage and Metaphor Self Video

Both of these projects were my best work from the semester. As someone who makes music and releases it, I wanted to use this opportunity to create unique footage to promote a release as well as tell a narrative story. To make these projects, I learned how to edit footage in creative ways and incorporate unique design elements I had never worked with before. I found it very interesting to create new media by repurposing old media, as it challenged me to think about footage not just as something that documents, but as raw material that can be reshaped into something entirely new. One thing that surprised me about the process was how much intention goes into every decision, from the order of clips to the pacing and tone. What initially seemed like a straightforward editing task turned into a deeply creative process that forced me to think about what story I actually wanted to tell and how every visual choice contributes to that. The constraint of not being able to include myself in either project was also something I found both challenging and rewarding, as it pushed me to communicate identity and narrative through other means.
